Message from the Learning Catchball

• You can select online language exchange program or online private Japanese lessons. If you like to try, please submit the application form at the bottom of this page. If you like, you can try both.

• Online language exchange program :
  You can learn/practice Japanese conversation. You can learn Japanese for free, in return you need to teach English for free.

• Online private Japanese lessons :
  If you like to focus on learning Japanese, we recommend you online private Japanese lessons. You don't need to teach English, but need to pay lesson fees.

Learning Catchball Japanese members

• Our Japanese members are happy to help you to learn Japanese for free, in return please help our Japanese members to learn English conversation for free.

• Learn Japanese:
  Our Japanese members are all native Japanese speakers and keen to learn and teach language. They like to have language exchange lessons regularly, so you can have a lot of opportunities to learn and speak Japanese. Please tell us what you like to learn on the application form. They will be happy to help you to learn Japanese.

• Help our Japanese members to learn English :
  Our Japanese members have basic English grammar skills, but they are not good at speaking English because they have few opportunities to practice conversation. So please have conversation with them in English and help them to improve their English speaking skills.

How to start

StepⅠ:Introduction

• After we receive your application, we'll try to introduce you our Japanese members(language partner's candidate) who fit your needs.

• After you check the member's profile,
  if you like to have trial language exchange lessons with the member, we will exchange your email address with the member's email address.
  If you don't accept the Japanese member, we will try to arrange other Japanese members for you.

Step Ⅱ:Trial language exchange

Trial language exchange for 1 month

• You can have trial language exchange lessons several times within 1 month after we forward our Japanese member's email address to you.

• Let's talk with the Japanese member about how to do the language exchange lessons each other and check if language exchange lessons with the Japanese member are good or not during the trial period.

• After trial language exchange lessons,
  If you decide to continue the language exchange with the Japanese members, please go to Step Ⅲ and pay the introduction(matching) fee
  If you decide not to continue, you don't need to pay the introduction(matching) fee. We will try to introduce you other members if you like.

Step Ⅲ:Payment

• Only in case you and our Japanese member agree on continuing the language exchange, we will charge you the introduction(matching) fee.

• Paypal : We would like you to make this payment with paypal or wise if you are outside Japan.

Online private Japanese lessons

• You can learn the following Japanese from an online private Japanese teacher.

• You can take online private lessons in the time slot below

Step 1 : Free trial lesson

• After we receive your application, we will ask you what day of the week and what time you are available and try to arrange an online Japanese teacher as per your requests.

• After we arrange an online private certified teacher, we will send you his/her information. If you like to try his/her trial lesson, we will exchange the email address and let him/her guide you to the trial lesson by email.

• He/she will offer you a free trial lesson(20 to 30 minutes) and suggest a lesson plan as per your targets to learn Japanese. If you have any questions or requests, you can ask your tutor at the free trial lesson.

Step 2 : Confirmation

• After the trial lesson, we ask you if you sign up for his/her regular lesson or not.

• You can select a lesson course below.

• ※Textbooks fees are not included in the above lesson fee.

Step 3 : Payment(lesson fee)

• If you decide to apply for his/her regular lesson, you need to pay lesson fee to him/her(your Japanese teacher) directly. Basically you need to pay lesson fee for the next 1 month in advance.

Step 4 : Payment(introduction fee)

• We ask you to pay the introduction(matching) fee 3,000 yen (Only once payment) to the Learning Catchball.

• Only in case you decide to apply for his/her regular lesson, we will charge you the introduction fee. If you decide not to apply, you don't need to pay it.

Learning materials(optional1)

• We have 25 lessons materials from Hiragana to basic/JLPT N5 level for self-study.

• We hope our learning materials will help you to get the basic Japanese knowledge.

1 minute speech(optional2)

• Let's make 1 minute speech in Japanese and improve your Japanese speaking skills. We check and correct your speech, so you can expect to learn more natural Japanese.

• If it is difficult to make a speech, you can send us your Japanese sentences. If you like us to check your text, you can send us your text instead of your voice.

Application form

• Your personal information is not open to the public.

  Online language exchange program for 5,000 yen
  Online private Japanese lessons for 3,000 yen

• Terms of use for language exchange program
  We(Learning Catchball) do not check each entry person's ID and take any responsibility for any troubles between you and our Japanese members.
  We(Learning Catchball) can not be responsible for the truth of each entry information and the quality of each entry person's character(personality).
  We can not accept applicants under the age of 18.
  Depending on your conditions/requests, it takes time to arrange our Japanese members or we might not be able to arrange for you.
